The basics
The handful of ideas everything else is built on.
Two parts
Splitterm is a desktop app: a tiling terminal, free forever, with projects, their issues, and a runner that works through them on your own machine. The Pro cloud dashboard shows the same projects in a browser, where a team plans the work. The dashboard is in preview.
Terminals and panes
The desktop window splits into a grid of panes. A pane is a terminal running its own shell, or a tile: Files, Git or a run. You split, resize, zoom and move them from the keyboard or by dragging, and each project has its own tab of them. See Panes and splitting.
Projects
A project is one piece of work and the repositories it touches. It holds those repositories, and can hold a plain folder that is not git, where terminals and Files work but no run does. Its issues and notes belong to it. Terminals outside any project live in Other terminals. See Projects and repositories.
Issues
An issue is a unit of work: a title, an optional description and criteria for what done looks like, a repository and a priority. It moves across Backlog, In progress, In review and Done as an agent works on it.
Archive an issue you no longer want, or a done one you want out of the way. It leaves the board and keeps its number, discussion and receipt; the list shows it under Archived, and Restore puts it back. Deleting is different: it removes the issue for good.
The runner
The runner works through issues on your machine. A run is Claude Code, started for one issue in a copy of its repository, on a branch of its own. It presents its work for your review, and you approve before it gets the pull request ready. See The Runner.
Your machines, your Claude
Agents run on your own computers, in Splitterm, with the Claude Code that is installed and signed in there. Splitterm never reads, stores or sends your Claude login: it only asks Claude Code whether it is signed in. The Claude profile starts the same claude command in a terminal.
Notes
Notes are a project's shared context for agents. A pinned note goes with every run of the project, and a note bound to a repository goes with the runs on that repository. See What a run reads.
DevicesPreview
A device is a computer running the desktop app, linked to your account. It belongs to your account, not to one project, and any of your devices can run an issue from any of your projects. It clones the repository with your own git when it does not have it yet.
Free and Pro
The terminal is free forever. On Free, one project on each machine has issues, notes and the runner; your other projects keep their terminals, Files and Git, and show their issues read-only. Pro lifts that limit and adds the cloud features. Signed out counts as Free. See Pricing.
